Bollywood's Best Choreographers
A Bollywood movie can barely run without dance sequences in it. Except for some classic movies like Black, Bollywood flicks cannot do without dance numbers. Let's take a look at some of the best choreographers of the industry.
Shiamak Davar:
Nobody thought that this back bencher would be such a big man today. Shiamak believes that dance has immense healing powers. He runs a very large number of dance schools across the country and has people of all ages attending his classes. He also runs a not for profit dance institute and trains underprivileged and handicapped children. A very amicable person, Shiamak has choreographed dance numbers in movies like Taal, Kisna, Bunty aur Bubli, Dil to Pagal Hai, Dhoom 2 and Taare Zameen Par. All of these movies are known more for their brilliant dance sequences than anything else.
Farah Khan:
Farah Khan, sister of famous TV comedian Sajid Khan has seen immense success in her career as a choreographer. She has hit movies like Kaho na pyar hai, Dil chahta hai, Kaal, Kabhi khushi kabhi gum, Monsoon wedding, Krrish, Dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge and Main hoon na to her credit. Farah turned director when she directed the movies Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om. Now a mother of triplets, Farah has decided to take a break to look after her babies. Let's see what this talented lady bounces back with!
Saroj Khan:
Saroj Khan shot to fame when she choreographed actresses like Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit. With more than 200 films and many awards to her credit, Saroj has shown her remarkable talent in songs like Beta, Chandni, Bazigar, Darr, Khamoshi, Pardes, Soldier, Devdas, Sathiya, Veer Zara, and more recently, Fanaa and Guru. Age doesn't stop this super strong woman; she may be a grandma now, but she is going to continue dancing till she can move!
Raju Khan:
Son of acclaimed choreographer Saorj Khan, Raju Khan has choreographed more than 1500 songs. The most popular of them of course are numbers from the super hit movie Lagaan, and Krrish.
Vaibhavi Merchant:
She is the grand daughter of pioneer choreographer Sri HariLal Merchant. Vaibhavi won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for the song Dhol Baje from the movie Hum Dil de chuke sanam. She has choreographed very successful numbers from movies like Dhoom, Swades, Dil Maange more, Bunti aur Babli, No entry, Rang de basanti, Dhoom 2, Aja nach le, Jhoom barabar jhoom and Love story 2050.
Remo:
Remo has choreographed songs in movies like Aankhein, Aksar, Shabd, Waqt, Just married, Pyar ke side effects, 36 China town, Fight Club, Dhoom and Jo Bole so nihal.
Ahmed Khan:
Rangeela, Rakshak, Pardes,Taal, Gulam, Bus itna sa khas hai, Mere yaar ki shaadi hai, Salaam Namaste Jab we met and a whole lot more; Ahmed Khan is truly a rare gem to Bollywood. Of all his work, Rangeels won himmaximum credit and he took off at full speed after that.

Malika Slaps Rather Than Giving Kisses
Bollywood Dance World Record on Trafalgar Square
For the advanced Bollywood dancers it might have been a bit of an easy routine dance, but in order to get people from all ages and backgrounds shaking to Indian tunes, one has to keep it simple.
Some reactions from the public:
Kalpana Halai, from Stanmore.
"It was an amazing experience and really good to be taking part in a world record attempt."
Trystan Ferriday, from Clapham
"They taught us some dance moves in the warm-up before we did the record. It was really good fun."
Bruno Tonioli
"It shows people the wide range of dancing that's available, how easy it is and how accessible it is.
We especially agree with the last one and are glad to see so much attention for our beloved Bollywood Dance!

You Watched Too Many Bollywood Movies When...
2. You begin to search for hair strands in your husband’s jacket.
3. Your vocabulary suddenly has a lot of Hindi swearing.
4. You cannot handle a story that doesn’t end with singing a song running around trees.
5. Every love story has to be a triangle.
6. Every girl who gets out of her house is secretly going to meet her boyfriend.
7. You know that if you’re hit by a bullet, you’re not going to die.
8. You think one of your kids will be a law breaker and the other will join the police force, nab him and not let him get away. Send him to jail and protect the law!
9. You’re convinced your kids are going to kill each other over your property.
10. You’re sure that your son can never get a woman better than you.

11. You yell at your son because he is going to marry a woman (he probably hasn’t even seen yet) who will wear mini skirts in your house and make you do all the work. (and have a whole bunch of boyfriends)
12. Your only aim in life is to get your daughter married or she might grow smarter with age and no one will want to marry her after that.
13. Your next aim in life is to pester your kids for grandkids.
14. You’re scared you’ll get pregnant before you’re married and then your boyfriend will ditch you for his “real” girlfriend.
15. Any movie that lasts less then three and a half hours is a terrible movie and should never have been made.
16. You know you’ll find your dream man on a train or a plane. You’ll get separated for a while but will eventually meet each other and eventually get married, with a lot of family drama of course.
17. You see it rain and wonder when your Prince Charming is going to come on his white horse, and ride away with you.
18. You begin making big sacrifices for your sister, especially when it comes to boys!

From rags to riches all the way to royalty – a Bollywood success story that could be yours!

To be a star in Bollywood, you need:
a) high profile parents whose money or reputations can open doors
b) political backing
c) to win a major international beauty pageant [no talent needed]
Not too many people today know or remember that merely a decade or so ago, none of the above three options were required in order to make it into the largest film industry in the world. Starry-eyed young women and earnest young men stepping off onto the platform of Victoria Terminus in Bombay and dreaming dreams of stardom…well, those days are long gone –or are they? Though too many people will tell you that the world is a much less innocent place than it used to be back then, there is still hope for budding celebrities out there.
Think ‘Bollywood success story’ and what comes into your mind? Abhishek Bacchan, Saif Ali Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan? That list is enough to dishearten any ordinary Joe, or Jaiveer, as the case may be. Each of these bright young actors is either very-well connected, has a family with roots in the film industry or is too beautiful to be a mere citizen. They’ve got celebrity stamped on them, but where’s the glory in being a celebrity by association?
Commonly called the King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan has been a major player in Bollywood for so long that people have forgotten his once humble status. Son of middle class parents in Delhi, Khan literally tumbled out of nowhere. In an age when film stars were treated like gods and a few families controlled a film industry that was (and still is) heavily influenced by the underworld, his unconventional image and steady climb to the top are proof that talent and perseverance are still valuable commodities in Bollywood.
From middle-class Muslim boy with no connections, no money but lots of talent to the so-called Tom Cruise of Indian cinema is certainly no mean achievement! Khan’s phenomenal success story just goes to show that being a star isn’t impossible – it’s just something that requires you to be smart, talented and willing to be different.
If you can sing, dance or act, this is the perfect platform for you – upload your video and perhaps yours will be the next success story that everyone’s talking about!

"Don't Worry Be Happy", New Bollywood Comedy
In spite of being outstanding actors and comedians, these artists have not been spared controversies and media glare. Here’s some juicy gossip for you to chew on.
Rajpal Yadav started out his career with a Ram gopal Verma film, and so, quite naturally, he is known for his eccentric comedy roles and violent villain roles. He was appreciated for the roles he played in some movies, like in ‘Waqt: The Race Against Time’ for example, while some were absolute disasters. If you have made the mistake of watching the movie ‘Ladies Tailor,’ you’ll know exactly what that means!

While Hemant Pande is not very popular, his skill cannot be denied. Let’s see what this ‘Krrish’ actor can do this time.
Good at playing roles of comedians and villains, Murali Sharma’s performance is something we look forward to. Quoting him, "I had read somewhere that the life you live is the choices you make. And I want to live a good life as an actor". Well, it’s for us to wait and see if he does or not! Good luck to him!
What does one say about Shakti Kapoor? He holds the world record for starring in the maximum number of movies; hold your breath, 422! And guess what, he won one award, for best comedian, for the movie Raja Babu. Shakti was swallowed into a huge, nation famous controversy in 2005, when he allegedly took sexual favours from a reporter, posing as an aspiring actress, and promised her fame in return. He claims it was all a planned scheme to trap and defame him; that he is innocent and that the videotape on which his actions were caught is all bogus. As always, it created a huge stir and then died down.

Prem Chopra and Ansari are legendary actors and continue to work with zest and fervor. They’ve both have excellent movies to their credit and their skills and talent has always been lauded.
The most interesting part of the whole thing is that you can star in this movie with all these great people. www.desitara.com is must visit. They are on the lookout for actors, singers and dancers to be associated with this movie. So if you have the talent, the zeal and the enthusiasm; and if you want to be a star, well, here’s your big chance! Enter the contest and give it your best, you could end up singing, dancing or acting in a big Bollywood film!

Sometimes it seems Bollywood and sport stars are the most powerful people in the country! They say it and we do it. And we like it that way! What cannot be ignored is the ever existing chemistry between the two. There seems to be an undeniable connection and attraction between the two sleep deprivers. Most of these relationships are plain heartbreakers; or are they publicity stunts?? Gossip mongers just love the connection between the sports and Bollywood, and these stars know it all too well! Hmm…
Take a look at some of these celebrity couples!

Hollywood or Bollywood?
5 Reasons Why You Want To Be A Star
Why you absolutely want to become a star…
- You live to perform, so why not perform to live? Money shouldn’t be your primary motivator to reach the status of a star, but be realistic, making a living of what you like to do? This might be true for many other professions too but nothing beats to survive solely on your performing talent, so go for it.
- Because you just love the attention, of course! Others prefer to play computer games, but you are a public lover, a stage artist, an applause junkie. That alone is enough to completely dedicate yourself to the noble quest of stardom and get your daily dose of adrenaline on stage.
- You have a pronounced opinion you want to share with the world. Engaged in voluntary work? Worried about poor working conditions in developing countries? As a star you have an impact where others don’t, use your future star status as a means to improve your environment and step into the footsteps of world saver artists like Madonna, George Clooney or Angelina Jolie.
- Because everybody deserves a piece of your talent. As a talented performer you are deeply moved by the amount of rubbish that is everyday being released in the music industry. You feel the urge to get this average up by making your talent public and make at least somebody’s day better. We thank you by all our heart in advance.
- Finally, you want to be a star, because as talented as you are, you are still single. Judging the pop scene nowadays you agree this might be the only reason why many artists are actually trying to breakthrough, but we must say that it helps. Nothing will add more sex-appeal to your personality than a good dose of guts, a stunning appearance on stage and your undeniable talent!
Good luck to all of you potential stars!
